This is a test used to see the arteries in the hands, arms, feet or legs. Angiography uses X-rays and a special dye to evaluate inside the arteries. During this test, dye is flowed through a thin plastic tube called a catheter into your artery. X-ray images of the arteries are then taken.

Angiography can be used if you have symptoms of a narrowed or blocked blood vessel. The procedure can be used to dissolve a blood clot with medicine or to open a partially blocked artery. The test can also detect bleeding, swelling or inflammation of the blood vessels.
